Chemical peeling
Controlled chemical exfoliation. By applying chemical solution on the skin according to patient skin type & skin concern. Which helps improve issues like acne, post acne scar, dark posts, pigmentation
Indication :- uneven skin tone, acne, post acne pigmentation, dark spots, open pores, melasma, sundamage, rough skin texture.
How does it works :- by remove superficial dead skin cells & clearing pores it control acne. It improve skin pigmentation by removing excess melanin pigment from skin. & also improve acne scar by boosting collagen production.
Type of chemical peel :-
- Superficial :- mild acids are used to only target outer layer of skin. No visible exfoliation.
- Medium :- chemical target outer & middle layer of skin. Along with pimple it help improves pigmentation.
- Deep peel :- strong agents are used to focus middle layer of skin. Helps improve fine line & scars. Patient see visible excess skin shedding.
Types of chemical use :-
- AHAs :- alpha hydroxy acids like glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acids etc
- BHAs :- beta hydroxy acids like salicylic acids.
Procedure :-
- First patient face is cleaned (using acetone or pre peel cleanser)
- Then a chemical choose by doctor according to patient skin type & skin problem is applied.
- Then chemical is left for 2-5 min (generally)
- Then solution is neutralised by a neutraliser & cleaned by normal saline.
- Then a hydrating moisturiser is applied & a soothing sheet mask is applied to improve recovery.
Post peel precaution :-
- Apply sunscreen twice a day & use moisturiser at least three times a day.
- Don’t use excessive warm & cold water for next 5 days.
- Don’t use depigmenting & anti acne cream for next 3-5 days .
- Don’t use scrub on face for next 7-10 days.
Side effects :-
- Scaling, dryness, redness, irritation, itching. All of these issue resolve easily. Rarely pigmentation.
